Keno’s neighborhood restaurant and lounge is a very popular hangout located by the Santa Ana river in Anaheim Hills. It’s been a favorite with the locals since the 70s but unfortunately that’s how long the restrooms have been around. Steve Cooper, the owner, has been trying to work out a solution for some time now. “For the last few years we have been trying to figure out how to renovate these bathrooms while we operate 7 days a week from 5 am till midnight every single day…” Steve said and added: “…we’re a super busy breakfast place and when you’re feeding 1000 to 1500 people on a Sunday I can’t have one bathroom with a lock on the door.” The answer was right there in the restaurant. Dave Leal, owner and CEO of SpecCeramics, Inc. and long time Keno’s patron, suggested using thin profile, large format, porcelain veneer tile. This new, innovative product is revolutionizing the retrofitting and renovation market as well as providing stunning and cutting edge design solutions for new construction and installations. Only 3.5 millimeters (0.125 inches) thin, these through body, porcelain tile products are now produced by several of the top porcelain tile manufactures and come in a stunning array of colors, finishes and patterns. Available in amazingly large formats, up to 40 by 118 inches, these products facilitate the refacing of existing tile walls and floors without having to incur the financial burden of demolition and the environmental burden of disposal. Steve came over to the SpecCeramics Design Library in Fullerton and after reviewing the comprehensive range of samples he chose the Buxy collection from the Kerlite series. Kerlite is the original thin body tile and is available in 4 separate collection: Buxy, Colors, Elegance;and Trilogy. The Buxy collection has 6 complimentary tones based on the extraordinary beauty of the limestone from Buxy, a small village in Burgundy, France. He was also able to find the right floor tile to finalize his design concept. SpecCeramics' Design Libraries are located in Fullerton, Santa Monica, San Francisco and San Diego. They provide design professionals, architects and builders an unparalleled resource for choosing just the right materials to complement all types of projects in a comfortable environment that induces creativity and provides the expertise that promotes problem solving. All Design Libraries are available to the trade by appointment. The products Steve chose were in stock and available at the SpecCeramics' Fullerton warehouse. After a prompt delivery each bathroom was renovated within 3.5 days, much faster than the projected 7 to 8 days using conventional means. “It was amazing how easy the tile went up on the wall over the other tile. Within a matter of hours we were able to put the tile up” Steve told us.
Not only did the SpecCeramic's Kerlite solution resolve, what seemed like, an insurmountable problem it also contributed to substantial savings by avoiding demolition costs. Steve was very satisfied with the whole package of SpecCeramic services.
“…delivery was excellent, the quality was very, very good, the service was great and the quality of the product that’s up there looks fantastic… Without finding SpecCeramics we would not be having this job done today” he said. About SpecCeramics About Keno’s restaurant and lounge Related Stories:
