Trend made a strong statement in the eyes of the editors at DWELL magazine as they were clearly impressed by the fashionable shade of green described in their recent article on the Miramar, Florida, based manufacturer (click here to view article).  While TreeHugger saw a different shade of green as a statement of environmental responsibility (click here to view article).

Whichever statement you choose agree with, there is no denying the impact.  As seen below, the space was decked out in recycled green glass bottles against a backdrop of their glass mosaic tile “Wallpaper”, which is composed of 80% post consumer recycled glass. Trend Wallpaper comes in a variety of colors and over 65 different patterns.  They can be used on either interior or exterior applications and on flat or curved surfaces.

As a company, Trend is constantly making improvements in their production process as a commitment to environmentally-responsible practices and reducing their environmental footprint.  SpecCeramics has dedicated a section in our EcoSpec website, explaining some of their practices in greater depth.  Sustainability is a corporate culture that is finding new ways to link design and manufacturing to life cycle impact and customer satisfaction.  They are manufacturing products in the United States, they have independent 3rd party certifications for environmental attributes, and they are thinking outside the box with progressive ideas like the “wallpaper take back” program, which would allow an exchange of old wallpaper squares for a new look and a new life.  Other progressive initiatives include reducing waste by 22%, reducing water consumption by 20%, initiating energy efficiency programs at all manufacturing plants, using only 100% recyclable packaging materials and using digital technology tools for marketing. Sustainability is a bigger picture to Trend and we should all be looking forward to their next innovative introduction!
