SpecCeramics Inc., industry leaders of providing high-quality stone products, supplied Heller Manus Architects with Endicott thin-brick veneer for the exterior cladding of the Hotel Vitale in San Francisco.

SpecCeramics Supplies High Quality Products for the Hotel Vitale With regulations in place mandating that all buildings along the Embarcadero Waterfront remain brick-faced, SpecCeramics’ ability to locate and deliver a light, easy to install thin-brick veneer from Endicott Tile, LLC., played a major role in the revitalization of the area. Hotel Vitale’s Endicott “Red Ironspot” thin-brick veneer measures 4" x 8"x 1/2" in size and virtually matches the 103-year old Ferry Building nearby, whose facade was also provided by SpecCeramics.  A lightweight and flexible version of standard brick, the thin veneer was simply applied with thin-set over the concrete substrate, anchored on the backside with a key back configuration for additional support.

“It was important for the Hotel Vitale to stay with the all brick-theme of the area,” said Bob Greer, SpecCeramics’ architectural sales representative for the Bay Area. “The industry is now capable of producing a thinner, lighter brick that’s easy to install over a cement substrate. It’s just as aesthetically pleasing as real brick, but the flexibility and lightness of the thin brick is beneficial in an area that is prone to earthquakes.” Click here for more information.
