Mall of the Century Gets a Facelift in Los Angeles
SpecCeramics Inc., industry leaders of providing high-quality stone products, supplied Australian based Westfield Design and Construction Inc. with 60,000 square feet of SPECstone granite for an outdoor remodel of The Century City Shopping Center, a frequent hot spot for the rich and famous in West Los Angeles, California.
To install the large format 12”x12” and 12”x24” granite tiles, Greg Games and his crew at Premier Tile and Marble, based in nearby Monterrey, had a crew of 40-50 workers with 60 days to install the 60,000 square feet of granite with as little interference to the other trades on the site.
“This was a very high profile job,” said Games, president and owner of Premier Tile and Marble. “Century City is a very affluent area. The majority of the install took place on the second floor deck with all kinds of shops and restaurants that people needed access to. The biggest concern was making sure that rain would drain properly away from the shops. But it was critical to make sure that each piece of granite was flush with each other.
