Bonham-Carter has experience in managing sustainable energy projects
for private and public-sector clients including local, regional, and
national government. Her past successes include policy guidance on
climate change in the United Kingdom and advising on renewable energy
opportunities in the construction of new schools.
The challenge was to develop 60 acres in the Visitacion Valley
neighborhood of San Francisco into a sustainable community. Competitors
were asked to foster concepts that were "off grid" and showed a zero
ecological footprint.
The valley's office market continues to expand at an above-average rate, Applied
Analysis principal Brian Gordon said. Through the first nine months, the market has added 3 million square feet of new
space and demand has failed to keep pace. The ratio of absorption, or the amount
of space taken, to new supply is 0.68, leaving 32 percent of the new product vacant.
