The acquisition comes after two years of turmoil for Chong Partners,
which is one of San Francisco's five largest architecture firms with
200 employees. In March 2005, Chong lost four of its five equity
partners -- Jeff Warner, John Ruffo, Sam Nunes and Bryan Shiles -- who
resigned to start a competing firm, WRNS Studios.
The design grew out of an unusual collaboration involving AC Martin
Partners in association with RMJM Hillier (formerly Hillier
Architecture); Michael Gorman, Dean of Library Services for Fresno
State; and the Table Mountain Rancheria, a federally recognized
American Indian tribe comprising members of the Mono-Chukchansi tribe.
